  • ⌥+1 through ⌥+9 jump straight to the apps in your Dock, in Dock order.
  • The heads-up display, so you can see what is mapped where.
  • Runs at login, stays out of the menu bar's way.
  • No nag screens, no expiry, no feature that stops working later.

Why this exists

macOS gives you ⌘Tab, which is a list you have to read, and Spotlight, which is a text field you have to type into. Both make you think about switching. AltMap replaces the thinking with a reflex: one chord, one app, every time, from anywhere.

It was built for a specific moment — Apple is retiring Rosetta 2, and the Intel-only switchers that people have relied on for years will stop running. AltMap is a native Apple Silicon replacement, written from scratch for current macOS.

How the trial works

Install AltMap and the free tier works immediately, with nothing to sign up for. When you want the letter mappings, start the 30-day trial from Settings — everything unlocks, and no payment details are asked for. One trial per Mac. When it ends, AltMap falls back to the free tier rather than locking you out.

How the license works

Buying sends you a license key by email. Paste it into Settings, or double-click the .altmaplicense file, and the paid features unlock immediately — the check happens on your Mac, against a signature, not against a server.

Activation registers the Mac afterwards so the two-Mac limit can be counted. If your network is down or our server is unreachable, AltMap keeps working and tries again later. You are never locked out of software you paid for because a server was having a bad day.

Moving to a new Mac? Free the seat from Settings on the old one, then activate the new one. If the old Mac is gone, email support@supercyber.studio and we will reset it.

AltMap uploads no usage data. It does not record which applications you switch to, what you map, or how often you use it. See the privacy policy for the two things it does send.

Requirements

macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. AltMap needs Accessibility permission to read the ⌥ chord globally and to bring applications forward; macOS will prompt for it on first launch and you can revoke it at any time in System Settings.
